Request a Translator or Interpreter
Please note:
DEADLINES AND TIMINGS
We can only accept requests made a minimum of 48 hours (2 working days) in advance. When we find a suitable match for your request, we will contact you immediately. You do not need to send follow-up requests. In the case that we are unable to find somebody suitable, we will let you know 24 hours before your appointment at the latest.
OUR VOLUNTEER INTERPRETERS
All of our translators and interpreters are volunteers who have no professional training.
CANCELLATIONS
If your appointment is cancelled or rescheduled, or if you have found an alternative interpreter and no longer require the services of TranslAid, please let us know immediately.
WHERE CAN WE HELP?
We only accept requests for appointments which take place within the boundaries of Munich's S-Bahn service. We do, however, accept telephone appointments. These are of course not restricted by the S-Bahn service.
WHAT CAN WE HELP WITH?
We provide translators for various types of appointment, including but not limited to: appointments specific to the asylum process or other legal proceedings, appointments at the Youth Welfare Office and the Registry Office, appointments about employment and accommodation, medical appointments, and unofficial translations of documents. Please get in touch with us and we will try our best to find a suitable volunteer for your appointment, whatever it is about. This list is not exhaustive and we are very much open to accepting and supporting new appointments which are not listed above.
WHICH LANGUAGES DO WE OFFER?
Here you will find a list of the languages for which we currently provide translators and interpreters.
Safety Measures against the Coronavirus
Where possible, we ask that you submit requests for appointments that can be supported through digital means. If translation via telephone or video-call is possible, we ask that you submit your request accordingly. We ask this so that we can best protect our clients and our volunteers from the virus.
In accordance with the current guidance, we are, however, still sending our volunteer translators to events which are taking place face to face. This is however subject to change.
When submitting your request, please state whether the appointment will take place face to face or over the phone.
TranslAid has costs to meet for sourcing, training, supporting, and sending out its volunteers. We would really appreciate it if you would make a financial contribution to help support our work.
